A man from Leeds, identified as Scott Heeps, has been sentenced to a two-year imprisonment term after being found guilty of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl in the year 2005.

The case came to light after the victim’s mother initially reported the incident to the police at the time, but the investigation was not conducted thoroughly or properly at that time, leading to a lack of immediate justice.

It was only in 2013, when the victim herself re-engaged with law enforcement authorities, that charges were brought against Heeps.

Following this renewed investigation, Heeps was formally charged and subsequently convicted of the serious offense.
