SCOTT GREENE FROM BOREHAM ESCAPES JAIL DESPITE SEXUAL CONVERSATIONS WITH YOUNG GIRLS IN ESSEX

In November 2017, a disturbing case involving Scott Greene, a resident of Boreham, came to light, revealing a pattern of online sexual misconduct directed towards underage girls. Greene, aged 27 and living on Church Road in Boreham, engaged in inappropriate and predatory conversations with four young females aged between 12 and 15 over a period spanning from 2010 to 2015.

His actions were uncovered after the mother of one of the victims became suspicious upon discovering that Greene had been communicating with her daughter. She learned that Greene had attempted to obtain photographs of her daughter and had also sent explicit images of himself, including a picture of his erect penis. Concerned, she reported her findings to the police, prompting an investigation into Greene’s online activities.

Authorities examined Greene’s Facebook account and found evidence of communications with three other young girls. In these messages, Greene repeatedly referred to the girls as “pretty” and “sexy,” and expressed his desire to meet them in person. One of the victims, who was between 13 and 15 years old at the time of contact, revealed that Greene had told her he wanted to take her to a hotel room and show her his penis. He also inquired whether she was a virgin and if she would like to sleep with him.

Further investigations uncovered that between February and April 2011, Greene had been messaging another girl aged 13, explicitly stating his desire to have sex with her and describing intimate acts he wished to perform. In 2012, he engaged in a sexual conversation with a 14-year-old girl, asking if she was a virgin and inviting her to his bed. The last known communication from Greene occurred in May 2015, when he sent a photograph of his penis to a girl under 16 and asked her to send him photos in return. The girl responded by sending pictures of herself in pajamas and underwear, explaining that she enjoyed the attention as it boosted her confidence.

When questioned by police, Greene denied any contact with the girls, claiming that his social media account had been hacked. However, forensic evidence strongly suggested otherwise, making his claims unlikely to be true. Initially, Greene denied the allegations but eventually pleaded guilty when the case proceeded to trial.

During the court proceedings, prosecutor James Sawyer presented personal statements from each of the victims. They expressed their realization, often only in hindsight, that they had been manipulated and that Greene’s actions were fundamentally wrong. Several victims voiced concerns about the possibility of encountering Greene in everyday life, highlighting the lasting impact of his misconduct. One girl stated her desire to move past the ordeal.

Judge John Seeley addressed Greene directly, acknowledging that he was fortunate to have the support of his wife and noting that Greene had shown remorse by pleading guilty at an early stage. Despite the guilty plea, Greene was sentenced to nine months in prison on each of the four counts, with all sentences to run concurrently. The sentence was suspended for two years, meaning Greene would not serve time unless he committed further offenses.

Additionally, Greene was ordered to complete 170 hours of unpaid community work and participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities. He was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which will remain in effect for five years, restricting his contact with minors and monitoring his behavior to prevent future harm.
