SARAHSUMMERFIELD AND ADRIAN ELDRIDGE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN HAYES AND WEST DRAYTON

In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Hayes and West Drayton, two individuals have been brought to justice following the discovery of heinous images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of a girl under the age of 13. The incident came to light after a seemingly minor mishap involving a mobile phone, which ultimately uncovered a series of deeply troubling crimes.

It was in July of the previous year when Sarah Summerfield, aged 30 and residing on Langdale Drive in Hayes, accidentally dropped her mobile device into a toilet while visiting a friend. The friend, attempting to assist, offered to repair the phone, and after it was dried out, managed to turn it on. To their shock, the friend discovered explicit images and videos showing Summerfield engaging in sexual acts with a young girl. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the friend promptly contacted the police, leading to a series of investigations that would reveal even more disturbing details.

Following the discovery, law enforcement officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Team swiftly moved to arrest Summerfield. During the subsequent analysis of her mobile phone, authorities uncovered evidence of a disturbing pattern of communication. It was revealed that Summerfield and her partner, Adrian Eldridge, 38, of Hawthorne Crescent in West Drayton, had exchanged approximately 3,000 text messages. In these messages, Eldridge was found to have encouraged Summerfield to carry out sexual assaults on the young girl, further implicating both individuals in a grave criminal conspiracy.

At Kingston Crown Court on Thursday, June 5, both defendants faced their respective charges. Summerfield pleaded guilty to three counts of assaulting a child under 13 by penetration and two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13. She was sentenced to six and a half years in prison for each of these offences, with all sentences to run concurrently. Her partner, Eldridge, was convicted after denying six counts of commissioning a sexual offence. The court sentenced him to ten years’ imprisonment for each count, also to run concurrently. Additionally, Eldridge was declared a Dangerous Offender, which will result in an extension of his license for an additional two years.

Both individuals were subjected to strict legal restrictions. Eldridge was ordered to comply with a lifelong Sexual Offences Prevention Order, and he will remain on the sex offender register for life. Summerfield was also placed under a Sexual Offences Prevention Order until further notice, and she too will be registered as a sex offender for life. The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of their crimes and the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable children from such predatory behavior.

Detective Sergeant Tony Smith of the Met’s Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command expressed his commitment to justice, stating, “I hope that the sentences handed down today will reassure the public that the Met takes the investigation of child abuse and sexual offences very seriously. I would encourage anyone who suffered sexual abuse as a child or adult, regardless of how long ago that was, to come forward and speak to us.”
