WOMAN ADMITS TO DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN ABERDEEN THAI RESTAURANT
A serial domestic abuser has admitted attacking her partner while at a Thai restaurant in Aberdeen.Sandra Vettese appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to assaulting Simon Wong on August 21.
The incident happened at the Royal Thai Restaurant in Crown Street, where Mr.
Wong was employed, during an argument about money.
Court reports reveal that the couple had a tumultuous 17-year relationship, often on and off, and the assault occurred at Mr.
Wong’s workplace.
Vettese was reportedly sitting at the bar drinking alcohol when Mr.
Wong asked her to leave, leading to an argument.
She left the restaurant around 5pm but returned three hours later, around 8 pm, initiating another dispute about money.
During the confrontation, she was said to have grabbed him by the hair and spat in his face, after which staff had to help Mr.
Wong and contacted police.
Vettese, aged 45, has previous convictions for domestic assault.
Her solicitor mentioned she was intoxicated during the incident and acknowledged having issues with alcohol, with plans to seek help through alcohol services.
The court heard that the argument was sparked by a rent dispute with their tenant.
Sheriff Alison Stirling expressed concern about her history of domestic offending and ordered a background report, considering the possibility of placing her on the Caledonian Project for domestic abusers.
Vettese is set to return to court next month for sentencing.
