DUNMURRY MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AFTER TERRIFYING ORDEAL
A man from Dunmurry has been given a prison term of two and a half years after being convicted of a rape that happened on February 3, 2021.Samuel Dyer, age 33, appeared before Craigavon Crown Court on July 1 to face the charges.
He maintained a not guilty plea, but following a trial, the court found him guilty.
He was sentenced to five years in total, with two and a half years to be served behind bars and the remaining period on license.
The police commended the victim for her bravery in reporting the assault, describing her experience as a "terrifying ordeal" where her right to consent was revoked.
Detective Sergeant McKee stressed the significance of reporting sexual offences, saying: “She faced a terrifying ordeal where her right to consent was taken away.
No one should have to endure such experiences.
We are committed to thoroughly investigating all cases of sexual assault, and we hope her courage in coming forward will motivate others to seek justice if they have suffered similarly.
