BRISTOL MAN JAILED FOR 'CHILLING' SEXUAL ABUSE OF TEENAGE GIRLS
Three men have been sentenced for their involvement in the "chilling" sexual abuse of teenage girls in Bristol.
Sakariya Hassan Sheikh was sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted of multiple charges, including trafficking and raping one victim, along with the sexual assault of three others.
Sheikh faced 19 charges but was acquitted of six counts of rape and sexual assault during his trial at Bristol Crown Court.
The court heard that Sheikh, aged 23, and his accomplices targeted vulnerable girls between the ages of 13 and 15 at various properties in Bristol between 2009 and 2013.
Some of the girls were given drugs and alcohol, with the offenders viewing them as "cheap and easy".
The judge, Peter Blair, told Sheikh, "You have brought shame upon your families and yourselves." The case was described by the Crown Prosecution Service as "chilling," highlighting the severity of the abuse and the torment inflicted on the victims.
The police officer Det Sup Lisa Jones remarked on the lifelong impact this abuse has had on the victims, emphasizing the lasting torment and anguish they continue to suffer.
