PREDATOR JAILED FOR DRAGGING WOMAN FROM STREET
A 36-year-old man received a 12-year prison sentence accompanied by an extended licence period after he abducted a woman whom he did not know on a street in Bristol and made threats to rape her.Mitchell Lee Rogers, who has no fixed address, seized the woman while she was heading to her job in Henbury, sometime between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning on Friday, August 1, 2025.
He pressed a sharp object against her neck and forcibly moved her to a nearby apartment.
Fortunately, she managed to escape during the incident.
Later that morning, law enforcement officers detained Rogers, who made his initial court appearance on Monday, August 4.
During a subsequent court hearing, Rogers admitted to charges of kidnapping and committing a criminal act with the intent of sexual assault.
At a sentencing session held at Bristol Crown Court on Tuesday, April 21, His Honour Judge Martin Picton described the crimes as "utterly horrific," "chilling," and "sadistic." The judge noted that Rogers had targeted someone he believed to be a schoolgirl, carrying out the attack in broad daylight within a residential neighbourhood.
He emphasized that the situation was especially troubling because Rogers was under the influence of drugs and appeared unaware of the gravity of his actions.
Rogers was sentenced to 12 years in prison and, due to being classified as a dangerous offender, he will serve an extended period of license of eight years after release.
Should he violate the conditions of his licence, he risks being recalled to prison.
The woman involved, an adult, sustained injuries including cuts, bruises, and a neck wound, and has experienced significant psychological trauma, which has been worsened by the prolonged court process.
