BRISTOL SEX GANGS JAILED FOR GROOMING GIRLS
In Bristol, thirteen men have been found guilty of various child sex offences, including abuse, rape, and involvement in child prostitution.Evidence presented in court indicated that some perpetrators were coerced into engaging in sexual activities with fellow gang members, with claims from the gang suggesting that such actions were part of Somali "culture and tradition" and that "men always have sex with each other's girlfriends." One victim, aged just 13, was raped four times by three different men at a Premier Inn located in central Bristol.
A statement from the local Somali community expressed their shock and grief over the case's outcome, describing the acts as "unforgivable acts of cruelty" targeting their community’s most vulnerable members.
These men, all residents of Bristol, faced charges including rape, sexual activity with a minor, facilitating child prostitution, trafficking, and paying for sex with a child.
Six of the men received prison sentences following a trial conducted earlier in the summer, while the remaining seven were convicted recently as the reporting restrictions were lifted.
The details of two specific cases, with offences dating back to 2011 involving grooming and abuse, are now publicly available.
The first case involved drug dealers from the Easton area exploiting a teenage girl, who was relocated into an apartment alone in the city, with limited supervision by social workers from outside the local community.
The second case concerned another group of young men who groomed and subsequently sexually abused girls.
