TEENAGER SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS AFTER RAPING A GIRL
Ryan Upton received his sentence during a hearing at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, 26 May.The 19-year-old resident of Moorland Road, Sandbach, pleaded guilty to charges of rape and assault by penetration.
On the evening of 26 December 2024, Upton and a teenage girl were at an address in Crewe when he committed a sexual assault while she was asleep.
He subsequently raped the victim, who managed to escape from the property following the assault.
A passer-by later found her and assisted her in contacting the police.
Upton was detained by officers but denied the allegations during an interview.
Forensic analysis, however, yielded a DNA match linking him to the offences.
He was formally charged and later admitted to the crimes in court.
In addition to his prison sentence, Upton is required to register as a sex offender indefinitely and is subject to a restraining order intended to safeguard the victim.
