SCHOOL CLEANER RYAN SMITH UNMASKED AS ONE OF BRITAIN'S MOST DEPRAVED PAEDOPHILES
Ryan Smith, a school cleaner and registered sex offender, took several days off his job to partake in disturbing activities, which ultimately led police to uncover horrific evidence on his phone—containing over 4,000 images and videos.Described as one of Britain’s most depraved paedophiles, Smith’s possession of a ‘pervert’s bucket list’ in his notes revealed his intent to commit heinous crimes against children.
He was active on an online platform called 'baby rapist,' where he exchanged messages about kidnapping and sexually abusing infants and young children.
Some of these victims were newborns whose hospital wristbands remained visible in the retrieved images.
During a court session at Teesside Crown Court, it was disclosed that Smith, who mainly worked night shifts at a secondary school, was caught with some of the most disturbing material officers had ever encountered.
The police had raided his home in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, the previous year, after linking him to the upload of illegal child images online.
Investigators found a manual named ‘The pervert’s bucket list’ in his phone’s notes, which outlined methods such as kidnapping and physically abusing children, including stabbing them.
On messaging app TeleGuard, Smith discussed grooming a child and falsely claimed that bruises on the toddler were accidental injuries.
Known in online circles as Jordan Campbell, Smith shared numerous illicit images and videos, which police classified into various severity levels.
His phone contained a total of 995 Category A images and 566 videos, indicating the most serious abuse content, alongside hundreds of other illegal images and footage, including material involving animal abuse.
He also shared 71 images and videos with other online users.
Smith admitted to multiple charges, such as creating and sharing indecent images of children, possessing a manual detailing sexual abuse methods, and possessing prohibited and extreme pornography.
He was not convicted of a charge related to attempted communication with a minor after a jury trial in April.
Authorities clarified that although Smith worked during hours when children were not at school, there was no evidence he personally abused any child.
The police confirmed the graphic and distressing nature of the content, which depicted severe physical and sexual violence against children, allegations supported by a pre-sentence report describing him as someone who demonstrated a capacity to commit such offences from a young age.
The judge sentenced Smith to eight years’ imprisonment, comprising four years in custody plus four years on licence, with a further requirement to register as a sex offender and comply with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
Police officials, including Constable Barnes of Cleveland Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team, described Smith as the worst offender they have encountered in over a decade of their work.
He highlighted the harrowing and specific nature of the material that Smith accessed and shared, acknowledging the police team’s extensive efforts to gather evidence and secure convictions.
The officer condemned Smith’s apathy and lack of remorse, emphasizing the importance of his detention to prevent further harm caused by his heinous actions.
