MANIPULATIVE STOCKTON ASYLUM SEEKER JAILED FOR RAPE OF WOMAN
A man identified as Hamed Kianipanah has been convicted and sentenced for the brutal rape of a vulnerable woman in 2022.The court heard that Kianipanah repeatedly insisted that the sexual assault was consensual during the attack.
He was described by witnesses and the court as manipulative and a domestic abuser.
The woman, who was suffering from mental and physical health issues, was deeply affected by the assault, recalling his words: “this is consensual”—which she later described as false and haunting.
The victim's emotional distress was detailed in her statement, emphasizing the trauma inflicted.
Kianipanah befriended the victim while living in Stockton while his asylum application was pending and took to the internet to find sexual partners, which led to the assault after he forced himself on her before a social event.
The court recognized the harm caused, particularly given her vulnerability, and Kianipanah was found guilty of a single count of rape following a trial at Teesside Crown Court.
The judge sentenced him to a 12-year extended term, meaning nine years in prison and an additional three years on license.
Kianipanah was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
The court highlighted his manipulative behavior and the profound impact the crime had on the victim’s well-being.
