CRUEL MAN RECEIVES LIFE BAN AND COMMUNITY ORDER FOR STARVING DOGS TO DEATH
This heartless yob Ryan Scandrett, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering. He starved his two dogs, Rocky and Max, so badly they had to be put down.
Ryan Scandrett, aged 37, has now been banned from keeping animals for life after the dogs were found in 'extremely poor conditions' in his home.
Neighbours were left in tears when Scandrett's neglect became evident, and the RSPCA along with police intervened.
The emaciated dogs were discovered in a car near his property in Bradford.
Both were severely unwell; veterinarians had no choice but to euthanize them to end their suffering.
Despite admitting to causing unnecessary suffering, Scandrett was spared jail but received a one-year community order, 180 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to pay £600 plus a victim surcharge of £114.
Inspector Leanne Booth, who responded to the scene, described the dogs' condition as heart-breaking, noting Max's ribs, spine, hips, shoulder blades, and skull were all clearly visible.
Ryan Scandrett's cruelty left many in shock, with witnesses recalling the scene as disturbing and heart-breaking.
He was also found to have failed to seek veterinary treatment for the dogs.
The vet described that both Rocky and Max appeared exhausted, weak, and severely undernourished Rocky could barely stand, and Max was vomiting pieces of raw chicken carcass.
The inspector emphasised that 'it is a pet owner's legal responsibility to properly look after any animal in their care.' The case was a stark reminder of the importance of animal welfare, and Scandrett's actions condemned by the community and animal welfare organizations alike.
