MAN GUILTY OF DOMESTIC ASSAULT OVER SPAT AND ABUSE CALL IN MELTHAM
A man named Ryan Hirst was involved in an incident where he assaulted his partner by punching her and spat at her because he thought she was going to pour cold water on him.He called her a 'fat scrounger' and during a row at her Meltham home, he followed her upstairs, shouted at her, and spat in her face.
He then punched her in the leg and left the scene.
Hirst claimed he believed she was going to pour water on him to get him out of bed, as she had done previously.
The incident occurred on January 5 when Hirst was staying over at the victim's residence.
He pleaded guilty to assault by beating at Kirklees Magistrates' Court.
Magistrates decided they required a probation report before sentencing.
The court was told that Hirst and the victim had been in a relationship for five years and shared two children.
The defendant's solicitor explained that, from his client's perspective, the relationship should have ended a long time ago, but they remained together for the children's sake.

The court proceedings revealed that Hirst's version of the events was different from his partner's, involving a misunderstanding related to previous instances where water was thrown at Hirst to wake him.
The court is awaiting further sentencing with a probation report.
