BRADFORD MAN SENTENCED TO OVER FIVE YEARS FOR RAPING VULNERABLE WOMAN
A man named Ryan Falconer, residing on Pearson Lane in Allerton, Bradford, was convicted of raping a vulnerable woman in her own home.
The jury found him guilty of rape and attempted rape by a 10-2 majority verdict at Bradford Crown Court on September 19, 2016.
The court heard that Falconer forced himself on the woman after she repeatedly told him 'no' and 'stop'.
Following the assault, he sent her an apologetic WhatsApp message with a picture of a sad face, saying 'Sorry for everything.' Despite the victim's clear refusal, Falconer continued to violate her trust, and his actions devastated her emotionally.
The judge, Jonathan Rose, described Falconer’s behavior as an abuse of trust and friendship, noting that he did not listen to her protests.
Falconer received a sentence of five years and nine months in prison, was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, and was subjected to an indefinite restraining order banning him from contacting his victim.
The victim experienced stress, flashbacks, and required counseling following the incident.
During the trial, evidence was presented of WhatsApp exchanges indicating Falconer’s remorse and attempt to apologize.
Bradford District Safeguarding Team expressed hope that the sentence would bring some closure and emphasized encouragement for victims to report sexual assaults."
