TORQUAY MAN JAILED FOR FRENZIED ATTACK ON PARTNER
A man named Ryan Cadman, aged 28, has been sentenced to six months in jail for causing physical harm and assaulting his partner. The incident occurred on October 5 of the previous year, where Cadman engaged in a frenzied attack that started in her flat in Paignton and continued onto the street. During the assault, he punched and bit the woman in her home, then chased her outside a funeral directors, pulling her hair, putting her in a headlock, and dropping her to the ground in an attack described as sustained and frenzied by the judge. The court was told Cadman had a history of offenses but nothing similar to this incident. Cadman pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and battery in Exeter Crown Court. The judge, Johnson, confirmed the assault started in the flat, citing that the woman was punched in the face, causing bleeding, and that this injury was clearly evident. Cadman disputed that the assault began in the flat, but Judge Johnson found the evidence indicated otherwise. Cadman reacted violently to what he believed was happening in his relationship, and although his solicitor stated he was sorry and wanted a fresh start, the judge concluded Cadman showed limited remorse and attempted to mislead the court about his actions. The court took into account the presence of children and witnesses, but Cadman’s behavior remained aggressive. The sentence was six months imprisonment.
