LECTURER CAUGHT HAVING YEAR-LONG AFFAIR WITH STUDENT FACES DISCIPLINARY ACTION
A college lecturer, Russell Oakley, 38, has been found to have engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a teenage girl student, known as 'Learner A'.The relationship lasted approximately one year, during which Oakley was also involved with another girlfriend, indicating ongoing misconduct.
The hearing in Cardiff revealed Oakley's admission that he had sex with the student despite knowing it was 'ethically wrong'.
Evidence showed that he and the student exchanged decoy emails to conceal their relationship from college authorities, with Oakley attempting to end the affair on multiple occasions.
His actions included sharing personal information, unnecessary outside-of-school contact, and engaging in sexual activity with the student.
The investigation was prompted after the student's father confronted Oakley outside her residence in the early hours.
Oakley, who was employed at Cardiff and Vale College, faces disciplinary action, including potential removal from his teaching profession for unacceptable conduct.
The case continues with ongoing hearings in Cardiff.
