RUSLAN ULYBIN, TORQUAY: CLEANER SENTENCED FOR POSSESSING OVER 100 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In August 2017, Ruslan Ulybin, a 24-year-old cleaner from Elmsleigh Road, Torquay, was sentenced after being found with more than 100 child abuse images on his computer.Police traced Ulybin through his IP address when he was discovered to have downloaded the illegal material, which he admitted he came across while seeking adult pornography out of boredom.
Ulybin was brought before Exeter Crown Court, where Judge Graham Cottle ordered him to participate in a sex offender treatment program designed to help him understand the harm inflicted on the children depicted in the images.
The judge stated, "Police who executed a search warrant found a large number of indecent images, all of which save one had been deleted.
It is clear from the probation report that at the time you did not understand how these young children are victims of crime because all these images involve them in this activity.
That is the reason why these offences are so serious and you need to acquire a clear and proper understanding of that." Ulybin, a Russian national, admitted to possessing indecent images of children.
He was sentenced to 40 days of rehabilitation activities, ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid community work, pay £200 in costs, and was placed on the sex offenders' register for five years.
Prosecutor Rachel Drake revealed that police had recovered 12 images classified as Category A, indicating serious abuse, along with an additional 106 images in lower categories.
Ulybin acknowledged downloading these images during police interviews.
