ROY WILSON FROM JOHNSTON SENTENCED IN SWANSEA FOR POSSESSING OVER 7,000 INDECENT CHILD IMAGES
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Johnston, Roy Wilson, a 66-year-old resident of Victoria Gardens, has been handed a prison sentence after being found guilty of possessing an alarming number of indecent images of children.The sentencing took place at Swansea Crown Court, where Wilson was sentenced to serve 12 months behind bars for his actions.
The charges against Wilson stem from a police investigation that uncovered his possession of a staggering total of 7,012 indecent photographs on September 20th of the previous year.
These images were categorized based on their severity, with 18 classified as category five, indicating the most serious type of indecent images.
Additionally, there were 581 images in category four, 1,775 in category three, 94 in category two, and a substantial 4,544 in category one, which is considered the least severe but still illegal.
Wilson had previously appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates court in June, where he pleaded guilty to 17 charges related to the possession of these images.
His case was scheduled for sentencing at Swansea Crown Court, and he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the gravity of his offenses.
