MAN AVOIDS PRISON AFTER SEX OFFENCE CONVICTIONS IN WEST WALES
Anthony George Rundle, aged 51, a former college lecturer from Glebelands, Johnston, has been involved in multiple sexual misconduct incidents but has avoided imprisonment. He was convicted of two charges of exposure and four counts of voyeurism after a trial.
The court heard that on March 12, 2014, a woman observed Rundle driving past a Tesco store in Cardigan with his trousers around his knees and his genitals exposed, before driving in circles and stopping twice in the car park.
Another incident in May 2014 involved a woman employee at the Marks and Spencer store at Withybush, Haverfordwest, who saw Rundle with his hand on his penis while his jeans were around his knees.
Police arrested Rundle ten days following the latter incident, seizing his computers.
Authorities uncovered four videos shot secretly in a caravan bathroom, showing women showering and undressing, with private parts clearly visible.
Rundle claimed he suffered from a medical condition and had only been preparing to urinate during the car park incidents.
He also stated he made the videos as a joke, thinking the women involved were exhibitionists, and intended to upload the footage online but later reconsidered.
Rundle denied the allegations of exposure and voyeurism, but was convicted unanimously by the jury.
Despite the seriousness of the offenses, the judge at Swansea Crown Court sentenced him to a three-year conditional discharge, with a requirement to participate in a sex offenders program, citing that a short prison term wouldn’t allow for proper addressing of his offending behavior.
The court emphasized that the sentencing aimed to address the offending rather than punishment alone.
