ROSS WHITE FROM GLOUCESTER ADMITS NEW CHILD SEX OFFENCE IN COURT
In a recent development at Gloucester Crown Court, Ross White, a 29-year-old resident of Falkner Street, Gloucester, has admitted to committing a new child sex offence, further complicating his criminal record. The court heard that White was already serving a suspended sentence for previous offences related to child pornography when he was found to be in breach of his legal restrictions.Specifically, White pleaded guilty to possessing an indecent 28-minute film featuring a child, an act that directly violated the terms of his existing sexual offences prevention order. This incident occurred in August 2009, and his possession of the film was confirmed during the court proceedings. The film's content, which involved indecent images of a child under 17, was a clear breach of the order that aimed to restrict his access to such material.
Furthermore, White admitted to breaching his sexual offences prevention order by possessing indecent images of a minor on the same date. However, he denied another allegation that he had breached a separate sex offender order between November 24 and 27, 2009, by possessing the same or similar images during that period. The prosecution, led by Julian Kesner, accepted White’s pleas, acknowledging his admissions.
During the hearing, White’s defense attorney, Jason Coulter, emphasized that his client was aware of his breaches but had since undertaken significant efforts to address his behavior. Coulter stated, “He knows he is in breach of his suspended sentence but he has since this offence undertaken very rigorous work on a sex offender course. That is nearly completed. He is permanently on the Sex Offenders’ Register.”
Judge Martin Picton, presiding over the case, decided to release White on bail until July 30, pending the preparation of a pre-sentence report. The judge warned White of the serious implications of his actions, remarking, “You are obviously at considerable risk of getting a custodial sentence for this because you are in breach of a suspended sentence for similar matters.”
White’s criminal history includes a December 2008 conviction where he admitted to 11 charges of making indecent photographs of a child, along with a 12th charge involving possession of seven indecent video clips and 23 still images of children. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, and was placed under supervision for the same period, which included 70 sessions on a specialized program aimed at addressing his offending behavior.
