FIFE CHILD ABUSER DENIES OVER 100 CHARGES OF HISTORICAL ABUSE AT SCHOOL
A group of six men are accused of historical abuse against boys at a Fife school.The accused include Ronald Morton, aged 71, who denies the allegations made against him.
The case involves more than 100 charges spanning from 1979 to 1998 at Melville House School, near Cupar, which operated until its closure in 1998 as a facility for young people with emotional, behavioral, and psychological difficulties.
Cowan, who is also accused of indecent assault, is alleged to have punched and kicked a boy, who was forced into a metal box and then locked inside.
The charges include physical violence, cruel and unnatural treatment, and breach of the peace.
The initial hearing took place at the High Court in Glasgow, with Cowan’s address listed as a law firm in West Lothian.
The court scheduled a further hearing for the New Year.
All six men had their attendance excused, and court papers indicate most are living in different locations within Fife, with Cowan’s address in West Lothian.
Cowan is specifically mentioned as the ringleader, with his address being in France, using his solicitors' address.
