RONALD KEITH RICHARDS SENTENCED IN NEATH PORT TALBOT FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A man from Neath Port Talbot has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of multiple child sex offences.Ronald Keith Richards, aged 66 and commonly known as Keith, resides in the town centre of Port Talbot.
His crimes involved heinous acts committed against two young victims, with details emerging during the trial that highlight the severity and duration of his abuse.
One of Richards’ victims confided in family members that they had been subjected to repeated acts of sexual violence by him, starting from when they were just seven years old.
This abuse persisted over a period of four years, causing significant trauma and distress.
The victim’s disclosure brought the case to light and contributed to the subsequent legal proceedings.
The second victim, whose age at the time of abuse ranged from eight to thirteen, endured similar suffering at the hands of Richards.
Their ordeal took place over two decades ago, but the memories and impact of the abuse remain deeply ingrained.
The details of this case further underscored the gravity of Richards’ actions.
In January, Richards was found guilty on all 14 counts listed in the indictment.
The charges included the rape of a child under 13, sexual assault, indecent assault, and gross indecency.
The court’s verdict reflected the seriousness of his crimes and the harm inflicted upon his victims.
Today, the court sentenced Richards to 25 years in prison.
This sentence includes an extended period, ensuring he remains incarcerated for a significant duration.
Additionally, he was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a lifelong Restraining Order to protect the victims from further contact or harm.
Richards will also be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life, underscoring the ongoing risk he poses to the community and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
