BRECON OFFENDER FACES JAIL OVER CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A Powys man who made more than 12,000 indecent images of children over a nine-year period has been warned he could go to jail when he is sentenced next month.Romendrasingh Ale created 2,000 category A images - the most extreme type.
The 52-year-old, of Priory Hill in Brecon, pleaded guilty to six offences when he was brought before Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Friday (February 6).
The court was told that, as well as the category A images, Ale had created 6,068 category B images, and 4,724 category C images.
The three making indecent images of children offences took place between June 18, 2014 and October 12, 2023.
Ale, who spoke through an interpreter, also pleaded guilty to distributing 76 category A images, 19 category B images, and 28 category C images.
These offences took place between June 18, 2014 and December 12, 2023.
The court was told that Ale had used a file-sharing programme to access the images, and through the use of that system, he had unintentionally distributed some of them as they were available for others to view.
Judge Daniel Williams adjourned the hearing for a pre-sentence report and granted Ale conditional bail until his sentencing hearing, which will take place at Merthyr on March 6.
He told the defendant: "The fact that I have adjourned this hearing and granted you bail is no indication of the sentence you will receive.
All sentencing options, including imprisonment, are open to the court that will sentence you."
