BRECON MAN CAUGHT WITH THOUSANDS OF CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND JAILED

Gavin Davies-Jones, a 36-year-old from Brecon, was discovered with thousands of images showing the sexual abuse of young children, some as young as four years old.

When speaking to police, he expressed despair, saying, "My life is over, I don't know why I've done it." Authorities approached him on November 22, 2023, following a raid based on intelligence indicating he downloaded indecent images at his home.

During questioning, he acknowledged possessing the images but claimed he had deleted them right away and denied finding sexual pleasure in them.

The evidence collected included a black cellphone and a desktop computer, which held 297 Category A images, 234 Category B images, 1,684 Category C images, two images involving extreme forms of abuse like bestiality, and a Category A video.

The youngest victim was believed to be aged between four and six years.

Davies-Jones pleaded guilty to three charges concerning the possession and production of indecent images.

The court was informed that he had been of good character prior to this, but he had lost his job as a result of the offence.

Judge Vanessa Francis sentenced him to 10 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered him to complete a 40-day rehabilitation program, stay under a two-month electronic curfew, and to register as a sex offender for a decade.
