CONVICTED BRIGHTON RAPIST ATTEMPTS ESCAPE FROM COURT
A CONVICTED rapist escaped from court by vaulting over a perspex barrier before being recaptured.Romany Girgis briefly escaped the dock at Hove Crown Court after he was sentenced for the rape of an 18-year-old woman during the Pride Festival.
The 30-year-old taxi driver from Devonshire Place, Brighton was sentenced to eight years in jail on Monday following a six day trial.
Girgis had picked up his victim at around 2am on Sunday July 8 last year before taking her back to his bedsit where he raped her.
