ROHAN ADIL FROM TUNSTALL SENTENCED AFTER HORRIFIC SEX CRIMES IN STOKE-ON-TRENT

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Stoke-on-Trent, a teenage boy from Tunstall has been sentenced to prison after committing a series of heinous sexual offenses involving a schoolboy. The court proceedings revealed the full extent of his disturbing actions, which included filming himself raping a defenseless child and sharing indecent images online.

According to the court, Rohan Adil, now aged 18, carried out these horrific acts against a young victim, with the crimes coming to light after Staffordshire Police received a crucial tip-off from the National Crime Agency. The alert was triggered when Adil was found sharing explicit photos with other paedophiles on social media platforms. An extensive investigation uncovered that Adil possessed hundreds of indecent images of children stored on his phone and laptop, further highlighting the severity of his offending.

The court heard that Adil was arrested at his residence in Dresden, Tunstall, on September 6, 2021. During the arrest, authorities seized his mobile device and laptop for forensic examination. The analysis revealed a disturbing pattern of activity, including a Telegram social media account where Adil engaged in live chats with other users. These conversations involved the exchange of highly explicit videos categorized as A, B, and C, with Category A being the most severe.

Prosecutor Jonathan Dickinson detailed the gravity of the evidence, stating, “The laptop was examined thoroughly, and it was found that Adil was actively involved in sharing and discussing child sexual abuse images. He also uploaded videos depicting himself raping a boy when he was 15 years old, including one video of the act and another showing the same victim being raped.”

Further investigation uncovered that Adil had uploaded a Category B indecent image to Snapchat on July 12, 2022, just a day before his court appearance related to 16 other charges. The forensic analysis of his devices revealed a total of 156 Category A images, 59 Category B images, and 47 Category C images, with five images classified as prohibited. The distribution of these images was extensive, indicating a significant level of involvement in the sharing of illegal material.

During the court proceedings, Adil pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of raping a child under 13, producing indecent photographs, making indecent images, possessing prohibited images, and distributing indecent images of children. The court was also informed that he had uploaded a Category B indecent image on Snapchat shortly before his trial.

Judge Hancox addressed Adil directly, acknowledging his background and the possible reasons behind his actions. “You come from a strict family. The offending may have, in part, been a form of sexual experimentation,” the judge remarked. He emphasized the importance of family support, stating, “Your family, though appalled and troubled, stand ready to support you and assist you. That’s vital, as many who appear before these courts have lost the comfort of their family’s love and care.”

However, given the gravity of the crimes, the judge concluded that only a custodial sentence was appropriate. Adil was sentenced to 28 months in a young offenders’ institution. Additionally, he was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for ten years and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for the same duration, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the public from further harm.
