ROGER BOHLING FROM RAVENSCAR AND WESTELLA CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the North Yorkshire community, Roger Bohling, a resident of The Fairway in Westella and also associated with Ravenscar, was found to be in possession of a significant number of indecent images involving children and animals.The incident came to light after Bohling voluntarily handed over his computer to police officers who were actively investigating the mysterious disappearance of his 18-year-old son, Russell.
On March 23, police executed search warrants at Bohling's residences in Westella and Ravenscar, seizing multiple computers and discs.
The officers were initially seeking clues that might lead to the whereabouts of Russell, who had been reported missing nearly six months prior.
Instead of the hoped-for leads, investigators uncovered a disturbing cache of digital material.
The police discovered a total of 484 images depicting children as young as nine, alongside graphic adult pornography, including extreme content involving animals.
Roger Bohling, aged 57, appeared in Hull Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 11 counts related to the possession of indecent images of children and animals.
His charges included eight counts of making and possessing such images, as well as three counts of possessing extreme adult pornography.
The court was told that Bohling, a retired civil servant, had shown no attempt to conceal the illicit material, which was found openly stored on his devices.
Throughout the proceedings, Bohling was described as being anguished over his son Russell’s disappearance, which had caused him considerable distress.
Despite this, his possession of the images was deemed a serious breach of the law and public morality.
The court heard that Bohling had not tried to hide the material, which added to the gravity of his offenses.
Judge Alastair McDonald sentenced Bohling to a two-year supervision order, emphasizing the tragic contrast between his previous contributions to society and his current criminal conduct.
The judge remarked, “It is sad to see someone who has clearly given a lot to society in court for offences of this sort,” highlighting the disappointment and concern surrounding the case.
The case has left the local community in shock, raising questions about safety and the presence of such disturbing material within seemingly quiet neighborhoods in North Yorkshire.
