BRISTOL MAN JAILED FOR TORTUROUS ASSAULT ON WOMAN
A woman from Bristol, described as having committed a 'disgraceful' act of violence, has received a nine-year prison sentence.Rocky Milano, aged 41, inflicted severe injuries on his victim through stamping, strangulation, stabbing, and hitting before setting her on fire in a brutal episode of violence.
He was convicted on July 12 of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The court learned that Milano, residing on Standfast Road in Henbury, became threatening and assaulted the woman—who was in her 30s—during the night from December 21 to December 22 of the previous year.
The woman sustained serious injuries including damage to her liver, multiple fractures in her sternum, ribs, and spine, burns to her face, and extensive bruises on her face, head, and body, along with stab wounds to her leg.
Milano also shaved her head.
After falling asleep, the woman escaped from the address and was hospitalized, remaining in the hospital through Christmas and New Year.
In her statement, she described the impact of Milano’s actions: “What Rocky did to me has affected me hugely.
I was devastated not to be able to spend Christmas and New Year with my family, instead being in hospital.” She recounted her pain and trauma, mentioning: “I have been left in agony due to the pain in my ribs, abdomen, and arms.
Some of my injuries will take a long time to improve, and I am worried about scars.
The way he tortured me has completely traumatised me to the point I have flashbacks.
At night, I can barely sleep and have nightmares about what happened, and I cannot leave the house alone without someone with me for safety.” Detective Inspector Will Thorpe commented: “Milano subjected his victim to hours of serious and prolonged attacks, which can be compared to torture.
I commend the victim’s courage in coming forward after such a horrific ordeal.
Milano denied his brutal behaviour and took the case to trial before the jury found him guilty.
I hope this sentence offers some measure of justice for her experience.” Judge Peter Blair sentenced Milano to nine years in prison and acknowledged the police officers’ thorough work: “This was a persistent assault on this woman.
A further aggravating factor was the gratuitous degradation of the victim through the removal of her hair.
He treated her as less than human.” Milano was also examined for possible blackmail charges, of which he was acquitted by the jury.
Authorities continue to urge victims of violence to report incidents, emphasizing the importance of community safety and justice.
