ELLAND MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ASSAULT HIS PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND
An Elland man hit his pregnant girlfriend as they argued in his car, a court heard.Robin Newsome pleaded guilty to assault when he appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.
They heard that Newsome had been in a relationship with Misha Sykes for 10 months.
She was 10 weeks pregnant at the time of the offence on July 11.
Prosecutor Alex Bozman said that the pair were in a car at Whitestone Lane in Hillhouse.
He said: “There was an argument which became inflamed and Mr Newsome wanted her to leave his car.
“ He left the vehicle and went to the passenger side to try and open the door.
“Then he returned to the driver’s side, jumped in and began to punch her several times to the face and body.” Magistrates heard that Newsome also kicked Miss Sykes while they were outside the vehicle.
Mr Bozman said that there was a witness to the attack.
He said: “He saw her being kicked five times and punched about plenty of times.” Magistrates said that they needed a full report on Newsome and adjourned his sentencing until November 28.
He was banned from contacting Miss Sykes or going to her address at Alder Street in Fartown.
