OFFENDER PLEADS GUILTY TO HARASSING EX WITH EXPLICIT IMAGES AND THREATS
Nathan Paterson pleaded guilty to harassing his former partner after their relationship came to an end.A man sent his ex a naked picture of herself after they split up - then threatened to post more explicit images of her online.
The Huddersfield court was told that the harassment happened between May 19 and 22 shortly after the couple split up.
Paterson, of West View in Elland, initially faced charges of disclosing private sexual photographs without consent to cause her distress, which was later changed to harassment, as he claimed that he did not intend for the images to be seen and to cause his ex distress.
The court heard that he sent a naked photo showing her genitals onto a private chat group, accompanied by an unpleasant message about her private parts, which was seen by two mutual friends.
He also sent abusive messages about her figure and body, and threatened to upload every photo and video on Facebook unless she obeyed him.
The incidents caused her considerable anxiety and embarrassment.
Judge Michael Fanning sentenced Paterson to a community order with 20 days of rehabilitation activities and 60 hours of unpaid work.
He also ordered him to pay £85 in court costs and £85 victim surcharge.
Paterson will have to pay these amounts but was not ordered to pay compensation, as the court stated he couldn't monetize the upset caused.
