ROBERT WILSON SHAMES PAISLEY AND TOOMEBRIDGE WITH HORRIFIC SEX OFFENSES INVOLVING SCHOOLGIRLS
A man named Robert Wilson has been sentenced to six months in prison after a disturbing series of events involving two young girls in the towns of Paisley and Toomebridge. The court heard that Wilson, who was 37 years old at the time, engaged in highly inappropriate and criminal behavior that included stripping naked and encouraging two schoolgirls, aged just eight and 12, to do the same during what he described as a game. These heinous acts took place over a period spanning from 2004 to 2005. Wilson exploited his position of trust and familiarity with the victims to carry out his depraved fantasies. The court was informed that he had developed a relationship with the girls, which allowed him to manipulate and abuse them when they were alone. The incidents involved Wilson removing his own clothing and encouraging the girls to do likewise, as well as exposing himself to them.
During the trial at Paisley Sheriff Court, it was revealed that Wilson was struggling with personal issues at the time, including a drinking problem and heavy gambling. Despite these struggles, he continued to deny any wrongdoing even after being convicted. He was remanded in custody initially, pending the preparation of background reports, as he refused to cooperate with social workers and maintained his innocence.
However, when Wilson returned to court for sentencing, his legal representatives claimed that he had changed his stance and now fully accepted his involvement in the crimes. The court was told that he had been in a position of authority over the girls at the time of the offenses, which made his betrayal even more egregious. Sheriff Derek Livingston emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating that custody was necessary due to the gravity of the offenses. He also expressed concern over Wilson’s continued denial, which influenced the decision to impose a ten-year period on his inclusion on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
In addition to the prison sentence, Wilson’s name will be registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a decade, reflecting the court’s view of the severity of his actions and the need for ongoing public safety measures. The case has shocked the communities of Paisley and Toomebridge, highlighting the importance of vigilance and safeguarding vulnerable children from such predatory behavior.
