ROBERT WALKER FROM TOTNES ADMITS TO CHILD ABUSE IMAGE CHARGES IN COURT HEARING
In a significant development at Exeter Crown Court, Robert Walker, a 63-year-old resident of Winslade Avenue in Totnes, has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the possession and creation of indecent images depicting children. The charges stem from the discovery of over 1,000 illicit images and videos that Walker had downloaded from the internet, which are classified into various categories based on their severity and content.During the court proceedings, Walker admitted to three counts of making indecent images of children. These charges specifically pertain to the creation of different types of visual material, including still images and videos, which he obtained through online downloads. The evidence presented indicated that Walker possessed two still images and 54 videos classified as Category A, which is considered the most severe due to the explicit nature of the content. Additionally, he had six still images and one video categorized as Category B, and a substantial collection of 1,186 still images along with nine videos classified as Category C, which are deemed less severe but still illegal.
Judge Timothy Rose, presiding over the case, decided to adjourn proceedings for one week to allow the probation service to prepare a comprehensive report on Walker’s circumstances. The judge also ordered Walker to be released on bail, emphasizing that all sentencing options remain on the table. He issued a stern warning to Walker, stating, “These are very serious charges which can and do result in prison sentences. In granting you bail, I am making no indication of what the outcome will be.”
Furthermore, Walker was instructed to immediately sign the Sex Offenders’ Register, a legal requirement for individuals convicted of such offenses. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of the justice system to address and penalize the possession and distribution of child abuse images, underscoring the severity with which these crimes are treated in the UK.
