In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Robert Stevens, a former employee at Scotmid stores in Bishopbriggs and Milngavie, was found to have engaged in covert filming of unsuspecting female customers over a period spanning from 2012 to 2017. The incident came to light after police executed a search warrant at his residence in Lennoxtown, uncovering a disturbing collection of illicit material.

During the raid, authorities recovered multiple electronic devices, which were subsequently examined. The investigation revealed that Stevens had used his mobile phone to secretly record women by passing the camera underneath their skirts, capturing images of their underwear without their consent. These recordings included videos of women shopping at the stores where he was employed, raising serious concerns about privacy violations and predatory behavior.

Further examination of the seized devices uncovered a large cache of illegal content, including 3,244 photographs and video clips depicting extreme pornography. This evidence painted a troubling picture of Stevens' activities, which extended beyond voyeurism into more disturbing realms of illicit material.

In court, Stevens, aged 33, pleaded guilty to the charges. His legal team argued for leniency, and today he was spared imprisonment. Instead, he was handed an 18-month supervision order, a decision that reflects the court’s recognition of his previous conviction for voyeurism in 2018, for which he was ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid work. This marked the second time Stevens avoided jail time for similar offenses.

The court heard that Stevens was employed at the Scotmid stores located in Bishopbriggs and Milngavie during the period when these offenses occurred. Stevens, who is no longer employed by Scotmid, admitted to police that he had recorded the footage without the women’s knowledge, confirming his guilt in the matter.
