ROBERT MOORE FROM LONG PRESTON FACES SERIOUS CHARGES INVOLVING CHILD ABUSE AND BESTIALITY IMAGES IN BRADFORD COURT

In September 2012, a man identified as Robert Moore, residing on the Ribblesdale estate near Long Preston, appeared before Bradford Crown Court to face multiple grave charges related to the possession of highly disturbing and illegal images. The court proceedings revealed that Moore, aged 31, had pleaded guilty to possessing a significant collection of child abuse photographs as well as hundreds of images and videos depicting bestiality involving various animals, including an octopus, a horse, and a dog.

Judge Jonathan Rose, presiding over the case, decided to re-bail Moore until September 28. This adjournment was granted to allow the Crown to thoroughly review Moore’s plea and to prepare a detailed report through the probation service. The purpose of this report is to assist in determining an appropriate sentence, which will be scheduled once all assessments are complete.

During the hearing, Moore admitted to 15 charges related to the possession of abusive and sexually explicit images of children and animals, which he had accumulated on February 17 of that year. Specifically, he pleaded guilty to ten counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child, including one at the highest level of severity, indicating the most extreme form of such material. Additionally, he acknowledged a comprehensive count involving the possession of 72 indecent photographs of children.

Furthermore, Moore admitted to four separate allegations concerning the possession of images and videos depicting acts of bestiality. One of these charges involved the possession of 635 images classified as extreme pornography, alongside 79 videos showing sexual acts between humans and animals. Court reports described these images as “grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character,” highlighting the severity and disturbing nature of the material involved.

Prosecutor Kama Melly explained that the prosecution needed additional time to evaluate the acceptability of Moore’s plea, which was submitted from his residence on the Ribblesdale estate near Long Preston, close to Skipton. The court noted that unresolved issues between the prosecution and defense regarding the plea could be addressed by a judge during a trial of issue hearing, a process used to determine the validity of certain legal points.

Moore’s defense lawyer, Robin Frieze, indicated that a request for a probation report would be made once the case’s procedural matters were settled. Meanwhile, Judge Rose ordered Moore to immediately register as a convicted sex offender with the police, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges and the need for ongoing monitoring and restrictions related to his criminal conduct.
