    Robert McWhir, a 25-year-old man from St Neots, has been found guilty of the brutal murder of his on-again, off-again partner, Marissa Aldrich, who was 29 years old at the time of her death. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing incident that took place last December near a pond in St Neots, where the tragic event unfolded.

    According to court reports, the confrontation between McWhir and Ms Aldrich escalated into a physical struggle that ended with him forcibly holding her head underwater. Witnesses described the scene as a heated argument that devolved into a physical altercation, culminating in McWhir's alleged attempt to drown her in the pond. McWhir later claimed that he had a phobia of water and that during the struggle, both of them fell into the pond, and he had tried to climb over her to escape. However, the court dismissed these claims as unconvincing, citing evidence that contradicted his account.
