ROBERT MCKERRAL SENTENCED IN CAMPBELTOWN FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a case that has shocked the community of Campbeltown, Robert McKerral, aged 47, was sentenced to nine years in prison following a brutal sexual assault on a young girl. The incident, which took place on April 2nd, involved a calculated and violent attack on a 13-year-old girl, leaving her traumatized and visibly shaken.

According to court proceedings held at the High Court in Edinburgh, McKerral had lured the girl back to his residence in Campbeltown under false pretenses. He used a fabricated story involving a dog to entice her to come to his flat, where the assault occurred. The court heard that after leading her into his home, McKerral attempted to remove her clothing and then proceeded to physically assault her with the intent to rape.

During the attack, McKerral wrapped a belt around the girl’s neck, using it as a ligature in a bid to control her. Despite this violent act, he eventually released her, but not before causing visible injuries. A friend of the girl later found her looking distressed, with red marks on her neck and her jeans undone, indicating the severity of the assault.

McKerral later confessed to police that his primary motive was to have sex with the girl once she revealed her age, which he knew to be 13. He admitted to putting his hands around her neck to “shut her up,” revealing a disturbing intent behind his actions. The court was also informed that he had assaulted her in a manner that endangered her life, tightening the belt around her neck and restricting her breathing.

During the sentencing, Judge Lord Bracadale condemned McKerral’s actions, emphasizing that he had deliberately deceived the young girl and that her appearance, described as slight and more akin to a 10-year-old, should have made him aware of her vulnerability. The judge stated, “You lured this child to your house under a false pretext. She was a 13-year-old girl, who according to medical reports was slight and looked more like a 10-year-old. You must have known she was a child.”

In addition to the nine-year prison term, McKerral was ordered to serve an extended sentence of three years for public protection. This means that after completing his prison sentence, he will remain under supervision to prevent any further offenses, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the need to safeguard the community of Campbeltown from potential future harm.
