ROBERT LEE SENTENCED IN HAYES FOR SEXUAL ABUSE AND THREATS AGAINST CHILD
In October 2015, a man from Hayes named Robert Lee faced a significant legal development following his conviction for serious sexual offenses involving a young girl.Originally sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on July 16 to nine years in prison for three counts of indecent assault, Lee's punishment has now been extended by an additional five years after an appeal deemed his initial sentence "unduly lenient".
Lee's crimes spanned several years, with the assaults occurring between May 1999 and December 2003.
During this period, he repeatedly subjected his young victim to indecent acts, exploiting her vulnerability and trust.
The court heard that Lee not only sexually abused the girl but also employed threats to manipulate her.
He warned her that she would never see her mother again if she disobeyed him, instilling fear and coercion in the young victim.
Furthermore, Lee used intimidation tactics, telling her that she would end up in prison if she disclosed his actions.
These threats and abuses left a lasting impact on the girl, highlighting the severity of his misconduct.
The case drew attention to the importance of protecting victims of sexual abuse and ensuring they receive justice.
Following the appeal, the Court of Appeal increased Lee’s sentence from nine to 14 years, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the court’s commitment to appropriate punishment.
Solicitor Buckland QC MP, speaking after the hearing, emphasized the nature of Lee’s crimes, stating, “Robert Lee committed a series of indecent assaults upon his young victim between May 1999 and December 2003.
Lee would sexually abuse the child on a regular basis and threaten that she would never see her mother again if she did not do as he asked.
He would also scare his victim by telling her that she would go to prison.” He also noted Lee’s denial during police interviews, where he claimed the allegations were false and fabricated.
Buckland expressed hope that the increased sentence would serve as a deterrent and encourage other victims of sexual abuse to come forward, knowing they will be believed and offenders appropriately punished.
