ROBERT GREEN SENTENCED IN SHEFFIELD FOR RAPE OF 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a case that has shocked the Sheffield community, Robert Green, a 20-year-old man from Emerson Crescent, was sentenced to six years in prison for the serious crime of raping a 12-year-old girl.

The sentencing took place at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, April 8, following Green’s guilty plea to the charge of rape during an earlier hearing.

Green’s arrest was made in Sheffield in August 2014 after the young victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, reported the assault to the police.

She disclosed that the incident occurred in the Norfolk Park area, a well-known neighborhood within Sheffield.

Forensic evidence collected from the scene and the victim’s clothing was instrumental in linking Green to the crime, providing crucial proof that led to his conviction.

Acting Detective Inspector Shafiq Rehman, who is part of the child abuse investigation unit, commented on the case, emphasizing Green’s acceptance of responsibility.

He stated, “Green has accepted responsibility for his actions, meaning his victim does not have to face the distressing prospect of reliving this horrific crime before a court.” Rehman also acknowledged the severity of Green’s actions, describing them as heinous, and expressed hope that the sentencing would help the young victim begin her journey toward recovery.

“This does not, however, detract from his heinous behaviour and he is now behind bars for his crime.

I hope that today’s result allows the victim the chance to begin her recovery,” he added.

The case has garnered significant attention within Sheffield, highlighting ongoing concerns about child safety and the importance of swift justice in cases of sexual assault.
