KILMARNOCK PERVERT ROBERT DAVIDSON CAUGHT WITH THOUSANDS OF CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Kilmarnock, Robert Davidson, aged 57, was apprehended after authorities uncovered a significant collection of illicit images on his mobile device. The incident unfolded in March of the previous year when Davidson visited a local Job Centre seeking assistance with his curriculum vitae. During the process of helping him with his mobile phone, an employee at the centre made a horrifying discovery that would lead to his arrest. While reviewing Davidson’s phone, the staff member noticed a hidden folder containing explicit images of a child. Recognizing the severity of the content, the employee immediately closed the folder and returned the device to Davidson, all the while alerting the police to the potential crime. The police responded swiftly, and a search warrant was obtained to investigate further.
Officers conducted a thorough search of Davidson’s residence in nearby Galston, where they seized his mobile phone for forensic analysis. The examination revealed a disturbing cache of 1,359 indecent images, some depicting children as young as two years old. The images were classified into various categories, with 176 identified as being in the most severe and explicit category.
During the subsequent court proceedings at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Davidson admitted to two charges related to the downloading and possession of child abuse images. The prosecution, led by depute fiscal Scott Toal, detailed how Davidson had unwittingly exposed his secret collection of vile images during his visit to the Job Centre. Mr. Toal explained that Davidson was receiving assistance with his CV when the employee noticed the illicit folder on his phone.
According to the court, Davidson initially claimed that he had lost his mobile phone, but police found it hidden behind a picture frame in his bedroom. Further investigation uncovered a notebook containing the names of websites known to host indecent images, adding to the evidence against him.
Given the gravity of the charges and the fact that Davidson is a first-time offender, Sheriff Shirley Foran decided to defer sentencing until March. This delay allows for the preparation of comprehensive background reports to better inform the court’s decision. The case remains a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and the importance of vigilance in safeguarding vulnerable children.
