SOUTHPORT ART TEACHER ROBERT COLLINS SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL COMMUNICATION
Robert Collins, 39, from Southport has been sentenced to prison for 2 years and six months for sending perverted messages to young girls over four years. He was the head of art at Formby High School when he engaged in highly disturbing conduct, including sending explicit images of his naked genitals to minors and soliciting illicit images of their bodies.
Collins communicated online with a girl he believed was 12 years old—who was in reality an undercover police officer—and asked, 'What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?' He further requested images of her body and transmitted pictures of his erect penis and nudity.
This evidence prompted police to investigate his address in Southport, where devices confiscated and examined revealed contact with three other teenage girls.
He expressed love for one girl and desire to start a relationship.
Police also found category C images of children on his devices.
Initially denying the charges, Collins later pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual communications with a child, four counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of possession of indecent images of children.
He was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
