ROBERT ADAMS FROM BUILTH WELLS FACES SERIOUS CHARGES OVER CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN POWYS
In a significant development in the ongoing fight against child exploitation, Robert Adams, a 43-year-old resident of Tan-y-Castell in Builth Wells, has admitted to possessing a disturbing collection of indecent images of children. The charges against Adams were formally acknowledged during a court session held at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 14.Adams faced a total of seven charges, all related to the possession and distribution of illicit material involving minors. Of these, three charges pertained specifically to possessing indecent images of children, with the authorities revealing that he had accumulated a total of 408 images across different categories. The most severe of these were 112 images classified as Category A, indicating the most explicit and severe content, along with 62 images in Category B and 234 images in Category C. These categories reflect the increasing levels of severity and explicitness of the images involved.
In addition to possession, Adams also admitted to distributing illegal images. Specifically, he acknowledged sharing one Category A image and one Category C image with another individual, further compounding the seriousness of his actions. The court was also informed that Adams possessed a staggering collection of over 1,000 images depicting bestiality, a crime that involves the sexual abuse of animals. Furthermore, he was found to have in his possession five extreme pornographic images that depicted acts which posed a direct threat to life, raising grave concerns about the nature of his material.
The offences are believed to have taken place over a period between June 3 and July 8, 2020, highlighting a span of over a month during which these illicit activities occurred. The case has garnered significant attention due to the disturbing nature of the content involved and the potential risk posed to children and the community at large.
Adams is scheduled to appear before Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on April 28 for sentencing. As part of the legal process, he has been subjected to a Sex Offender Notification Requirement (SONR), which mandates that he report to the police within three days of his court appearance. This measure is intended to monitor his activities and prevent further offenses, underscoring the gravity of the charges he has admitted to.
