POWYS MAN HAD COMPUTER GENERATED VIDEO OF CHILD ON PHONE
A POWYS man who had computer generated videos and images of children engaging in sexual acts with adults on his phone has admitted possession of a prohibited image of a child.Jack Blackwell, who lives in Builth Wells, admitted one offence when he appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court this week.
Blackwell, 38, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a prohibited image of a child between June 11, 2022, and October 16, 2024.
Prosecutor James Sprunks told magistrates on Tuesday, January 20, that Dyfed Powys Police were notified by colleagues at South Wales Police of an image involving a child that had been uploaded to the internet by an account associated with the defendant’s mother in September 2024.
He said police then executed a warrant at the defendant’s address, at Tan Y Castell, Builth.
"Officers including PC Tristan Smith attended at the defendant’s address and a number of devices were seized," said Mr Sprunks.
"Two mobile phones were examined, which contained three videos showing computer generated children engaging in sexual acts with adults.
He initially denied possessing or uploading any items and said that anything in his possession was unintentional.
His phone was further inspected, and there was one image found, which was a computer-generated video.
It showed a partially clothed female, aged around eight.
The defendant was further interviewed, where he admitted being in possession of a prohibited image.
He told police ‘They must be mine as they’re on my devices’." Acting for Blackwell, Gareth Walters clarified the computer-generated nature of the image, saying it was AI, Anime or a cartoon.
"The image was not live people," said Mr Walters.
"I would ask for an adjournment and for a pre-sentence report to be completed.
It is an either way offence so it could also be committed to the crown court for sentence." Magistrates said they were happy to keep the matter at the lower court.
They ordered an all-options report and told Blackwell to return to Llandrindod for sentence on February 10.
He was granted unconditional bail until that date.
