CANTERBURY THUG RICKY CAREY BATTERED THE MOTHER TO HIS OWN CHILD
Ricky Lee Carey, a man currently unemployed, has been subjected to a restraining order after he assaulted the mother of his child and caused damage at her Canterbury home.
Carey visited Maria Henson’s residence and forced entry by damaging a door while insisting on speaking with her.
At 26 years old and residing on Watercress Lane in Wingham Well, Carey appeared before magistrates to be sentenced after pleading guilty to criminal damage and assault charges.
It was established that the assault happened in July when Carey arrived at Miss Henson’s house and pushed her during a heated exchange.
Prosecutor Julie Farbrace recounted that the damage to the door took place on December 18, when Carey arrived and demanded access.
“She was banging on the door and attempting to open it by pulling the handle,” Miss Farbrace said.
“Carey detached the handle and inflicted dents in the door with his fist.
This occurred despite him being on bail with restrictions not to visit or contact her.
He was arrested for criminal damage and violating his bail conditions, and he remained silent during police questioning.” Defence lawyer Donald Worsley explained that Carey recognized that his relationship with Miss Henson was over but clarified they shared a child.
He stated: “He plans to stay in touch but will try to avoid causing her problems.
My client disputes allegations that he sought to harm her and was very upset when damaging the door.
“She had previously been difficult about contact, which led to his reaction.” The court ordered Carey to complete a two-year community order, which includes a restraining order, along with 150 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was fined £200, ordered to pay £150 in compensation, £85 in court costs, and a £15 surcharge.
