ROTHERHAM TEENAGE SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR HISTORIC ABUSE
The article reports that Ricky Hutton, aged 35, was convicted of serious sexual offences committed when he was 16 years old.During that incident, he targeted a boy around nine or ten years old, subjected him to multiple sexual assaults including rape and assault by penetration during a prolonged single episode.
Hutton, residing on Pike Road in Rotherham, was previously found guilty by a jury of two counts of rape, assault by penetration, and inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The victim, who spoke in a personal statement read out in court, described how the abuse had "ruined his childhood." He recounted the emotional aftermath, including difficulties with sleep, depression, and anxiety, and expressed relief after the conviction, stating, "It has taken four years to get to this point.
I’m so relieved we persevered and finally got the justice we deserve.
My childhood was ruined by what he did to me.
I have struggled with sleep, depression and anxiety my whole life." The court heard that Hutton's offenses had a profound impact on the victim's life, affecting his relationships.
Hutton was sentenced to eight years in prison and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
The judge emphasized the damage caused, remarking that Hutton's childhood could never be replayed and that his actions demonstrated "no regard for the victim." The sentencing was also justified on the grounds that Hutton committed the offence at the age of 16 and should be sentenced as such, despite his subsequent criminal activities.
The judge described the offense as a "singular incident" but stressed its seriousness and the aggressive threats Hutton made to his victim to keep quiet."
