YORK BUSINESSMAN JAILED FOR POSSESSING OVER 10,000 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A York businessman has been given a suspended prison sentence after police found more than 10,000 indecent images of children on his company laptop.
Richard Paskauskas, 64, is now a registered sex offender following his conviction on four charges by a jury at York Crown Court earlier this year.
He had denied all charges and is appealing against the convictions.
The jury was told that his video wall hire company, with bases in London, Birmingham, and York, has an annual turnover of £2.5 million and employs 12 staff plus outside contractors.
Police found 10,345 indecent images of children, including 2,292 in the worst category (A), plus some extreme pornography, on a work laptop seized at his home in 2023.
Paskauskas received a 15-month prison sentence suspended for two years on condition he performs 30 days of rehabilitative activities.
He is subject to a sexual harm prevention order restricting internet use and police monitoring for 10 years, and he must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Convicted of three charges of having indecent images and one of possessing extreme pornography, Paskauskas claimed others in the company had access to his computer profile.
The police forensic exam showed images were added from June 27, 2006, to February 26, 2016, some being not easily accessible.
Evidence suggested some images were accessed when his profile was active.
The laptop, bought in 2006, had not been used in the six months prior, as Paskauskas claimed he collected it after a business trip to London.
