RICHARD PACKER FROM BURBAGE SENTENCED FOR DECADES-OLD INDECENT ASSAULTS IN LEICESTERSHIRE
In a significant case heard at Leicester Crown Court, Richard Packer, a 56-year-old man from Burbage, has been sentenced to six years in prison for committing indecent assaults on three young girls over a span of more than a decade.The crimes, which took place between 1989 and 2003, involved the abuse of victims who were as young as seven and eight years old at the time of the offenses.
Richard Packer appeared before the court on Monday, 26 November, where he admitted to four counts of indecently assaulting a child under the age of 14.
The charges stemmed from incidents that occurred many years ago, with the earliest reported abuse dating back to 1989.
Packer’s guilty plea was entered during a hearing on 5 November, bringing some closure to the long-standing case.
Following his conviction, Packer was handed a sentence of six years imprisonment.
In addition to his jail term, he will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SOPO) for life, a legal measure designed to restrict his activities and reduce the risk of reoffending.
Furthermore, he will be registered on the Sex Offender’s Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.
