DUNDEE CHILD SEX ABUSER GUILTY AFTER SHERIFF BLASTS HIS "APPALLING" ACTIONS
A Dundee man has been convicted of sexual offences against a young girl after a sheriff said the evidence heard during the case was “overwhelming”.Richard McKenna, 37, of Fullarton Street, was found guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court of offences committed between June 2024 and February 2025.
The court heard the girl, now aged 13, was repeatedly subjected to unwanted physical contact.
McKenna was also convicted of a separate offence relating to an incident in February last year.
During sentencing proceedings, Sheriff Gregor Murray described McKenna’s behaviour as “appalling” and stated that the evidence against him was “overwhelming”.
The court heard that multiple background reports were prepared ahead of sentencing, including an assessment from the Tay Project.
McKenna was assessed as presenting a “low to moderate” risk of reoffending.
He has now been placed under supervision for three years and ordered to engage with the “Moving Forward to Change” programme during that period.
McKenna was also placed on the sex offenders register for three years.
