A man from Oldbury named Richard Hughes has been sentenced to 16 months in prison following two assaults on his girlfriend and acts of criminal damage at her residence.
Hughes, aged 25 and residing on Hartlebury Road, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault involving a 17-year-old girl.
He also admitted to causing damage on two occasions between May 22 and July 15, as heard at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
According to court reports, Hughes’ teenage partner was injured during heated confrontations, which included her arm being caught in a car window, being slapped, and having her head struck against a wall.
She eventually fled to a hostel to escape the violence.
Judge David Mason QC remarked that the assaults were particularly troubling, especially given the nature of the relationship, and noted relief that Hughes acknowledged the relationship’s end.
