    RICHARD ANTHONY SENTENCED IN PETERBOROUGH FOR GROOMING OFFENSES IN JUNE 2021

    In June 2021, Richard Anthony, a 45-year-old man from St Ives, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court for attempting to incite a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity. The court heard that Anthony began messaging the girl, who was actually an undercover police officer, in January 2019. During their online conversations, he repeatedly asked for pictures and suggested they meet for "naked massages." Unbeknownst to him, his intended victim was an officer posing as the girl.

    Anthony admitted to attempting to persuade a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity at a prior hearing. Following the investigation, police raided his home in Laburnum Way, St Ives, on June 18, 2019, and confiscated his electronic devices. On June 4, 2021, he was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court, receiving a custodial sentence of two years and four months for his offenses.
