A man who took his teenage girlfriend by force in his car, prompting her to leap from the moving vehicle in fear, has escaped jail time.Rhys Burnett, aged 21, held the 18-year-old against her wishes and sped away with her.
Instead of imprisonment, he received a sentence of 300 hours of unpaid community work, a one-year curfew, and three years of probation supervision.
Additionally, he is required to participate in a programme aimed at changing domestic offender behavior and must inform a social worker of any new romantic relationships.
Burnett was also made subject to a non-harassment order to stay away from his victim for life.
